Given the choice, Guinevere surely would have shopped at Avalon Square Shopping Village.

Located near the intersection of Cool Springs Boulevard and McEwen Drive, "Avalon Square is the completion of Avalon's overall amenity package," says David Schwab, co-developer of Avalon with Richard Johnson.

"The additional land for Avalon Square came available after the Avalon concept was already underway," Schwab says. "We decided to make it an all-inclusive destination."

Trendy upscale boutiques and fine restaurants built in Old World style will line the streets of Avalon Square Shopping Village, a 71-acre shopper's paradise located just outside the gates of Avalon. Avalon Square will also feature a roundabout drive and concealed parking.

"Approximately 40 percent of Avalon Square's parking will be tucked away and unseen, which adds to its aesthetic value," Johnson says.

Luxurious residential town homes and flats will be available at Avalon Square, and the village will even include a food market and pharmacy. In addition, Schwab and Johnson donated a portion of the Avalon Square property to the city of Franklin for the construction of a police station and a fire hall.

Accessing the shopping village will be a breeze for Avalon residents, who can walk or bike there via trails from Avalon's residential sites. Avalon Square will also be the site of social gatherings and entertainment.

"Avalon Square will be designed with a wide village green median, which will be inviting for concerts and social gatherings," Johnson says. "And the sidewalks will be wide enough to accommodate outdoor dining."

Thanks to the diversity of Avalon Square's unique shops, superb restaurants and its Old World charm, a day at the quaint shopping village promises to be an experience like no other. Even people from outside the Avalon community are expected to visit Avalon Square to shop, dine and enjoy the ambiance.

"Avalon Square is located at what will become one of Williamson County's major intersections, and there's absolutely nothing missing from it," Johnson says. "It will be home to some of the finest restaurants in all of Nashville; it will be one of a kind."

Indeed, it will. Where else can a restaurant rendezvous have the ambiance and mystique of King Arthur's Avalon?
